James Chen was appointed executive vice president, international operations for Diebold in January 2010. He is responsible for overseeing all international operations, including joint ventures, distribution channels, service operations, subsidiaries and distributors.
Previously, Chen served as senior vice president for Asia Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa regions. Chen joined Diebold in 1998 as corporate vice president and managing director, Asia Pacific, based in Shanghai. During his 12 years with Diebold, Chen transitioned Diebold’s AP business from a 20-year history of partnerships with other companies to a direct business operation. Chen significantly expanded Diebold’s business in the AP region, spearheading the introduction of advanced self-service solutions in the area.
Prior to joining Diebold, Chen was general manager, business electronics at Philips Electronics China in Beijing. In addition, he spent 14 years with NCR, Corporation in a variety of management positions in the Asia Pacific region, including managing director of NCR’s Chinese subsidiary.
Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan.
